1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Lux (“the Service”), including the website at hrblux.com and any official iOS or Android apps when available, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Lux is a web service, with mobile editions when offered, provided by HRB Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It offers King James Version (KJV) Scripture reading, optional listen-aloud of Scripture, an AI companion for reflection and Bible questions, prayer tools, community chat (when enabled), and Christian music and video. The KJV text is in the public domain. Music, video, software, and other original content are owned by HRB Studios or its licensors.
Account types:
- Free content — KJV reading and listen-aloud, five Lux Radio stations, and non-AI music and video are free. AI processing features require paid or complimentary AI access; complimentary access is limited and is not a paid subscription.
- Lux Premium — the paid subscription described at checkout. Service availability and entitlement sharing across web, iOS, or Android depend on the official versions and purchase channels actually supported at the time.
- Paid AI access — paid monthly subscriptions and one-time AI Top-Ups provide access to AI processing, subject to the applicable allowance and usage limits. Lux does not provide public or anonymous free AI previews. Limited $0 testing access may be provided separately to authorized whitelisted, administrator, or family accounts.
Lux does not offer free trials on web or mobile. Where checkout is enabled, it will show the applicable price before payment; customers are charged only after confirming checkout. Authorized complimentary AI access is not a paid subscription.
Lux is for personal reflection, study, and prayer support when you choose it. It does not replace clergy, counseling, medical care, legal advice, or other professional services. You are responsible for how you use the Service. If you are in immediate danger or considering self-harm, contact local emergency services. In the U.S., you can call or text 988.
3. Age Requirements
Lux is intended for users aged 13 and older. By creating an account you represent that you are at least 13. We store that representation on your account. This is not an identity or age-document check. If you are under 13, you may not use the Service. If you are 13 to 17, you must have a parent or guardian's permission to create and use a Lux account.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. For security, a Lux account may be logged in on only one device or session at a time; signing in elsewhere can end the previous session. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including abuse of community chat.
5. Subscription and Payment
Offered monthly web subscription tiers are $5.99, $9.99, $14.99, and $19.99 per month. One-time AI Top-Up tiers are $5.99, $9.99, $14.99, and $19.99. Top-Ups do not expire and are used after the monthly AI allowance; the monthly allowance renews with the subscription. Where checkout is enabled, it will show the selected price before payment. Web payments, when enabled, are processed by Stripe; iOS and Android purchases, if offered, are processed by Apple or Google Play and are subject to that store’s payment, cancellation, and refund rules.
Paid monthly subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Canceling stops future renewals; access continues through the end of the paid period. Manage Apple subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions and Google Play subscriptions in the Play Store. For a web subscription, use the Stripe Billing Portal linked from the Lux Store to manage billing or cancel; contact support if the portal is unavailable.
Web refund requests may be sent to support@hrblux.com. Refund requests are reviewed by support case-by-case, subject to applicable law. In-app purchase refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Payment disputes, reversals, or refunds may cause associated AI access or Top-Up allowances to be adjusted to avoid duplicate benefits; this does not limit statutory refund rights.
Allowances and account closure: Monthly AI processing allowances are used first and renew with the applicable paid monthly billing period; unused monthly capacity does not carry into a new cycle. Purchased Top-Ups do not expire while your Lux account remains active and are used after monthly allowances, oldest purchase first. If you plan to delete your account with unused paid Top-Ups, contact support first to review your options. We will honor rights to refunds or remedies required by applicable law. Published prices and feature availability may change for future purchases, but a change does not silently revalue the original allowance associated with an already purchased Top-Up.
6. Free Account
Free access: KJV reading and listen-aloud, five Lux Radio stations, and non-AI music and video are free. AI processing requires paid or complimentary AI access. Complimentary access is limited and is not a paid subscription.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
- Share your account credentials with others
- Abuse service rate limits
- Post harmful, harassing, illegal, or sexually explicit content in community chat
- Upload material you do not have permission to use or use AI features to violate another person's privacy, likeness, or intellectual-property rights
- Impersonate others, threaten or harass users, or attempt to evade moderation or account restrictions
8. Intellectual Property and User Content
The KJV Bible text presented in Lux is public domain. All other content provided through the Service — including music tracks, videos, software, branding, and original written material — is owned by HRB Studios or its licensors. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from that content without written permission. Music and video are licensed for streaming inside Lux, not for download or redistribution.
You retain rights in content you submit (for example community chat messages, suggestions, and bug reports). You grant HRB Studios a nonexclusive license to host, process, display, moderate, and transmit that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and support the Service. Community posts may be visible to other users and may be removed for safety or legal reasons. You are responsible for having rights and permissions to anything you upload.
AI-created material: As between you and HRB Studios, we do not claim ownership of original AI-generated images created for your account, to the extent that rights in such output can legally exist. AI output may not qualify for copyright protection, may resemble output provided to others, and may be subject to third-party rights or provider terms. You are responsible for reviewing and obtaining necessary permissions before publishing or commercially using AI output. You retain rights in reference images you upload and grant Lux the limited permission needed to process them for your request.
Copyright reports: If you believe content on Lux infringes your rights, email support@hrblux.com with the affected content location, your contact information, proof of authority, and relevant details. We may remove or restrict reported content, notify the affected account, and handle disputes or counter-notices as required by applicable law. Repeated infringement may result in account restrictions or termination.
9. AI Companion and Listen-Aloud
The Lux AI companion runs on HRB-operated servers. It can be wrong, incomplete, or unhelpful. It is not clergy, a therapist, or a substitute for Scripture itself. Lux may use HRB-hosted speech synthesis; some app versions may use device-native speech services. Generated Scripture audio may be cached so the same public-domain verses can be replayed efficiently. Optional voice input, where offered, asks for your permission each time before the microphone is used. On supported browsers, Lux may use device or browser speech recognition (for example the Web Speech API) without uploading a recording to Lux. Where optional server transcription is enabled for the product and available on your device, Lux may record up to about 60 seconds of audio, send that recording to Lux servers and to OpenAI solely to create a transcript for your Chat draft, and place the text in the draft without sending it until you press Send. You can cancel at any time or continue typing instead. Server transcription, when enabled, requires an authenticated Lux Premium membership and remains subject to authentication, size, duration, and rate limits described in product notices. Lux does not keep the recording as a permanent audio archive on Lux disk storage; OpenAI processes the audio under its own service terms, and Lux does not control provider-side retention.
Saved Lux companion conversations and related transcripts, summaries, and recall records expire after 30 days without a new message. They are excluded from history and recall at expiry and hard-deleted when cleanup runs on chat-history access, such as when the conversation list loads. Cleanup does not promise deletion at the exact expiry time. Deleting a conversation or your account affects stored server records as described in the Privacy Policy. Turning off cross-chat recall stops future use of prior chats for continuity but does not delete those chats. Prayer and community messages have separate storage behavior described in the Privacy Policy.
Paid AI access and Top-Ups are subject to the allowance and usage limits shown for the applicable purchase. Authorized complimentary AI access is not a paid subscription. AI responses and generated images may be incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable for your intended use. Features may be interrupted for maintenance, safety, or third-party outages; if paid service is materially unavailable, contact support for a review of remedies available under applicable law.
Third-party services: Features involving outside providers, including AI services, payments, sign-in, email, hosting, and optional voice or monitoring services, may be subject to those providers' own terms, privacy policies, and retention requirements. Lux cannot control or guarantee the retention, logging, backup, or deletion practices independently determined by those providers. Removing data from Lux does not guarantee its immediate removal from a third party's systems. See our Privacy Policy for details.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HRB Studios is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the past 12 months, except where applicable law requires another result. Nothing in these Terms limits nonwaivable consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, notify you by email or through the Service when practical. We will provide notices required by law for material changes, including any changes to automatic-renewal prices or terms. No posted amendment alone authorizes a new charge without legally required disclosures and consent. Continued use after the effective date may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
