1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Lux (“the Service”), including the website at hrblux.com, the iOS app, and the Android app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Lux is a web and mobile application provided by HRB Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It offers King James Version (KJV) Scripture reading, optional listen-aloud of Scripture, an AI companion for reflection and Bible questions, prayer tools, community chat (when enabled), and Christian music and video. The KJV text is in the public domain. Music, video, software, and other original content are owned by HRB Studios or its licensors.
Account types:
- Free account — signed-in access to KJV reading and Scripture listen-aloud. AI chat, prayer companion features, community chat (web, when enabled), and music/video require Lux Premium.
- Lux Premium — the paid subscription described at checkout. One Premium entitlement is intended to work across web, Android, and iOS when the same account is used.
- Web trial — eligible new web subscribers who complete Stripe checkout receive one month (30 days) free, then $5.99/month until canceled. A payment method is required at checkout. Creating an account alone does not start a paid trial.
- Mobile trials — trial availability, price, and duration for iOS and Android are shown by the App Store or Google Play before you purchase.
- Explore pass — a limited, no-account preview on the web: 24 hours and up to 5 AI messages, bound to the device. Explore is not a paid subscription and does not start a Stripe or store trial. Music and video remain Premium-only.
Some older accounts may still have a legacy 7-day app-managed trial. New web introductory offers are the 30-day Stripe trial described above.
Lux is for personal reflection, study, and prayer support when you choose it. It does not replace clergy, counseling, medical care, legal advice, or other professional services. You are responsible for how you use the Service. If you are in immediate danger or considering self-harm, contact local emergency services. In the U.S., you can call or text 988.
3. Age Requirements
Lux is intended for users aged 13 and older. By creating an account you represent that you are at least 13. We store that representation on your account. This is not an identity or age-document check. If you are under 13, you may not use the Service. If you are 13 to 17, you should use Lux only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. For security, a Lux account may be logged in on only one device or session at a time; signing in elsewhere can end the previous session. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including abuse of trials, Explore passes, or community chat.
5. Subscription and Payment
Lux Premium is $5.99 per month unless a different price is shown by the App Store or Google Play in your region. Web payments are processed by Stripe. iOS subscriptions are processed by Apple. Android subscriptions are processed by Google Play. Store purchases are subject to that store’s payment, cancellation, and refund rules.
Web subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel through the Stripe customer portal (opened from the Lux Subscription page). Apple subscriptions are managed in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Google Play subscriptions are managed in the Play Store. Canceling stops future charges; you keep Premium until the end of the current paid or trial period.
Web refund requests may be sent to support@hrblux.com. In-app purchase refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We do not publish a separate refund schedule; we review web requests in good faith and in line with Stripe’s processes and applicable law.
6. Free Trial and Free Account
Web trial: Eligible new web subscribers receive 30 days free after Stripe checkout, then $5.99/month. Eligibility is limited (for example, a prior Stripe, Apple, or Google subscription on the account is not granted a second introductory web trial). Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. Canceling does not restart trial eligibility.
Mobile trials: Shown by the App Store or Google Play before purchase.
Free account: You may create a free account for KJV reading and Scripture listen-aloud. AI chat, community features, and music/video require Lux Premium.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
- Share your account credentials with others
- Abuse trials, Explore passes, or rate limits (including creating accounts to reset limits)
- Post harmful, harassing, illegal, or sexually explicit content in community chat
8. Intellectual Property and User Content
The KJV Bible text presented in Lux is public domain. All other content provided through the Service — including music tracks, videos, software, branding, and original written material — is owned by HRB Studios or its licensors. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from that content without written permission. Music and video are licensed for streaming inside Lux, not for download or redistribution.
You retain rights in content you submit (for example community chat messages, suggestions, and bug reports). You grant HRB Studios a license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate and improve the Service.
9. AI Companion and Listen-Aloud
The Lux AI companion runs on HRB-operated servers. It can be wrong, incomplete, or unhelpful. It is not clergy, a therapist, or a substitute for Scripture itself. Lux may use HRB-hosted speech synthesis; some app versions may use device-native speech services. Generated Scripture audio may be cached so the same public-domain verses can be replayed efficiently. Voice input, where offered, uses your device or browser speech recognition.
Chat storage is not the same in every mode. The Privacy Policy describes how companion chat, Friend Lab, Explore, prayer, and community messages are stored.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HRB Studios is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the past 12 months.
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms. We will update the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, notify you by email or through the Service when practical. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
